Victim in deadly Olive Way hit and run identified

The victim left to die in the roadway in last month’s Olive Way hit and run has been identified.

The King County Medical Examiner says Taylor Reid died of “multiple blunt force injuries” in the Friday, May 24th incident at Olive Way and Minor just west of I-5 from Capitol Hill.

Reid was 36 and a resident of a nearby apartment building. Reid’s dog Frito survived and was reportedly being tracked down from animal control to be re-homed. Continue reading

Police seek public’s help in deadly Olive Way hit and run investigation

Authorities have not publicly identified the man struck and killed by a hit and run driver on Olive Way just across I-5 amid reports that police were having difficulty determining the victim’s identity and were hoping someone might recognize the victim’s dog.

People in the area of Friday night’s deadly collision say detectives were working to identify the man who was found down on the pavement after being hit by at least one driver in the just before 9:30 PM incident.

A picture of the leashed dog “Frito” found with the man Friday night has been distributed.

Police were also working to identify vehicles in the area at the time the man was struck near Olive Way and Minor were reviewing video from the scene. Continue reading

Man struck and killed on Olive Way in reported hit and run

A man was struck and killed Friday night in a reported hit and run on Olive Way just across I-5 from the base of Capitol Hill.

Seattle Police reported the fatality collision and said its investigation was ongoing at the scene at Minor Ave just west of I-5.

According to police radio updates, officers were called to the man down in the roadway around 9:30 PM and found the victim clinging to life. Seattle Fire was called to the scene but the victim died before he could be transported to Harborview.

Animal control was called to assist with a dog with the man who was also possibly injured.

Seattle Police were reviewing video from the scene and searching for a possible suspect vehicle last seen headed east on Olive Way.

No clear description of the car was provided by police.

SPD’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad was called to the scene and the investigation had Olive Way fully closed to traffic as well as Minor Ave near where the victim was found.
