Over the weekend, CHS spotted something white flying through Cal Anderson. We went to investigate and met Peaches McFly, a 19-year-old Goffin’s Cockatoo (Tanimbar corella), with an active social media following. His human, Taryn, says he’s been in the back of a police car and a fire truck. “He flew two blocks away and someone had called the police saying he was lost. They contacted me via his Instagram account and I went and got him out of the back of the police car. He’s a Seattle bird with a small cult following.” Peaches is a free flyer so if you see him soaring about the neighborhood, no worries, he knows where home is.
We ask photographer Alex Garland to follow marchers in the rain and do crazy things like trying to make yet another picture of yet another huge apartment building look interesting. We thought we’d ask him to do something a little more fun. Capitol Hill Pets is a semi-regular look at our furry, fuzzy, feathered, and finned friends found out and about on Capitol Hill.
