•Rockin’ Betty’s (in the Broadway Market): 1999 until 2004, until the construction of QFC and Urban Outfitters forced us out.

What do you love about having a business on Capitol Hill? We’ve adapted and changed during our 23 years on the Hill to include burlesque, rave, basics for work and home, to cocktail dresses and drag. It’s so fun seeing what our creative community does with our clothing and accessories to incorporate them into their shows and parties. The daily interaction with our great customers and also tourists who wander in is what’s the best about having a business on the Hill. Also, listening to the requests and being about to provide what trends and items they are looking for within 3 days.

Why is it important for people to shop local, especially around the holidays? It’s important to shop local because of the ability to touch, try on, and see the product. Our number one job during busy seasons like Pride, Halloween and the holidays is fixing online disasters. Things don’t show up. They don’t fit right. The fabric or quality is terrible. With a local merchant, especially with us, you get the experience, feedback and advice of the vendors as well as customer service and a human touch.

We had our best Pride and Halloweens ever on the Hill and are looking forward to Holiday and NYE!4dSTH_blog-posts2
