My neighbor was awaked by helicopters overhead for 1/2 hour, police cruising down our street (10th Ave E, near Brix) multiple times (no siren), and she’s sure she saw a cop with a police dog walk down the street. She was scared and called the police, they would only tell her that they were chasing a robber. Anyone else have any info?

Anybody know what happened to Siam on Broadway? Or of plans for that block now that Siam, El Tajin and the Jade Pagoda are empty?

The fantastic weather this past Sunday had me out on a walk in the neighborhood. Discovered an artist and his helper creating a mural on Federal Ave E at the Lowell Elementary School (from the little park alongside the play yard from 11th Ave E to Federal Ave E and down Federal to Mercer). Nice addition to the area IMHO. The artist gave me permission to take his photo and to blog it. I did not catch his name, but he said he was already in the press due to another project in Ballard. Anyone know who he is?

While watching the Lake Union fireworks from the I5 shores at Mercer at Melrose this year, the most amazing thing happened – someone started singing “The Star Spangled Banner” and everyone in earshot joined in!

It was very touching to hear 100’s of people for blocks singing the National Anthem. Young and old, gay and straight, families and party groups, every skin color you could think of! Amazing.

I’ve watched the fireworks from the same spot for years and this never happend before.

I’ve been renting a parking spot to one of the WG Clark Construction foremen while they build the Brix Complex between Republican & Mercer and Broadway & 10th Ave East.

Suddenly yesterday, he informed me via e-mail that WG Clark was no longer part of the project effective immediately. No other information.

Does anyone know why? Have any guesses why?
