A fire scorched the empty building formerly home to the Queen Sheba restaurant at Broadway and John Tuesday afternoon.
Seattle Fire was called around 2:45 PM to reports of flames on the outside of the building that spread to the interior.
SFD reported the fire under control around 3 PM as crews worked to soak any remaining embers.
It is the second time in recent months a fire has damaged the building since the restaurant shuttered last year.
In October, a suspect was taken into custody in connection with a suspected arson that damaged the structure.
Seattle Fire did not provide a damage estimate from its investigation but the property’s owner told CHS plans for overhauling the restaurant had remained on track.
CHS reported here on the closure of the longtime Ethiopian restaurant tucked into a converted 125-year-old house just off Broadway.
Developer and property owner Dru Agarwal said he was moving forward with plans to prepare the building for a new restaurant.
Seattle Fire reported no injuries in Tuesday’s blaze.
The Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate the cause.
Streets in the area were closed to traffic during the response.
UPDATE: Seattle Fire says investigators were unable to establish an official cause for the fire.
“Fire investigators ruled the cause as undetermined,” SFD said. “The fire originated in a dumpster between two buildings and spread to the exterior and windowsills of one of the structures.”
