A memorial to Jonny Adamow has taken shape at Broadway and Pike. Meanwhile, the Seattle Police Department says it continues to work to arrest the suspect caught on video in the deadly shooting.
A collection of Adamow photos, flowers and Pride flags have been placed on a neighborhood utility pole at the corner — the same location where the gunman was hiding the night of the shooting.
The Alphabet Alliance of Color gathered a group in Cal Anderson Park Friday night to remember the 29-year-old Adamow.
“Jonny was a beloved nonbinary and queer member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and fiercely proud of their Dominican heritage,” the group said.
The alliance says the New Yorker was “only in Seattle for a short term gig with their partner of 9 years” and asked for community support to mark their passing here.
Adamow’s father served as a New York City firefighter and Seattle Fire Department members gathered last week as the victim’s body was released to family from Harborview.
Seattle Police say they are working to make an arrest in the case in the early morning December 31st killing but The Seattle Times reports the department will not confirm if they have identified a suspect.
The just before 3 AM shooting was caught on video from a city traffic camera that shows the gunman crouching behind a utility pole before shooting Adamow in the chest in an ambush that appears to have been targeting another person who also fled the scene and has not been publicly identified.
Police have asked anyone with information that could help the investigation to call 911 or the Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.

SPD is so worthless. I think they like not doing anything and cashing checks. None of them even live in Seattle.
Will you still say that when SPD makes an arrest in this case?
Sadly that seems unlikely. Their new motto is “no arrests made”
And, “asking for the public’s help”
Incredibly sad state of the world. What a beautiful soul. May their love spread far and wide.
The memorial for Jonny is great, but that tattered utility pole is a great example of how the SDOT postering regulations are routinely ignored, and what the sad result of that is. It’s kind of a metaphor for the degraded state of our neighborhood today.
The flags that say “Arts district” are falling apart. The flag at fort Sumter was in better shape after the shelling stopped. Dystopian
The police suck until you need them….So many of the Democrats who wanted to ‘defund the police’ were begging for police when they were targeted….such HYPOCRISY. Is Adamow a ‘Dominican’ name?….sounds Polish to me.
