  • Truck smash burglary attempt: Summit Foods was rammed in a brute force break-in attempt earlier this month at the Capitol Hill mini-mart. Seattle Police say multiple 911 callers reported the burglary underway at the Summit Ave market just before 5 AM on Friday, November 8th where a grey pickup truck was reported ramming the entrance to the business. Police say the market’s alarms were also sounding as the suspects sped away westbound in the vehicle as the break-in was interrupted. A search for the suspects and the truck were not successful. There were no reported injuries and no arrests.
  • SPD asks public for images or video in Breanna Simmons murder investigation: Detectives have taken the unusual step of asking again for the public’s help in the investigation of an October street shooting that left a 25-year-old woman dead on 11th Ave. CHS reported here on the October 19th murder of Breanna Simmons who was gunned down in an altercation on 11th Ave amid Pike/Pine nightlife crowds. Tuesday, SPD detectives took the unusual step of again calling on the public for help in the case following an earlier plea from the department in October. SPD says detectives are “specifically looking for video or images that were taken at the scene that Saturday morning.” Call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000 if you can help. Police also continue to investigate the shooting that sent a man and a woman to the hospital from an 11th Ave memorial for the victim the next morning. Police have since revealed that they recovered shell casings from multiple weapons in the second incident ranging from a rifle to a handgun.
  • Teens busted in Broadway hold-up: Police made three arrests after a group of teens reportedly held up two people in a street robbery near Pine and Broadway late last Friday night and implied they had a gun:
At 2356 hours, officers responded to a call for service near the intersection of Pine St and Broadway. The victims stated that they had just been robbed of their property and the suspects had their hands in their waistband while conducting the robbery, implying a possible firearm. Police conducted an area check locating a group that matched the description nearby. Officers detained all suspects. Three of the suspects were positively identified and had the property of the victims on their person. All three suspects were placed in custody and transported to the East Precinct where the property was recovered.
SPD sasy the three suspects detained were booked into the county youth jail.
  • Yesler gunfire: An apartment resident reported a bullet through their window and multiple 911 callers reported gunfire in an incident late Sunday night near 25th and Yesler:
Patrol responded finding shell casings in a narrow side alley adjacent to the victim’s apartment with corresponding bullet damage to the victim apartment’s exterior window. Police contacted the victim and canvased the area. There were no injuries. GVRU was notified. Patrol processed the scene.
  • Pike/Pine gun arrest: Police arrested a man Saturday night after he caused a disturbance outside an E Pike bar and was found to be illegally carrying a firearm. SPD says they responded to the disturbance outside the bar around 11:30 PM Saturday and detained the suspect who had returned to the venue. “During questioning, when it became clear that the suspect was giving a false name, he attempted to flee. He attempted to run and was taken to the ground in the 1000 block of East Pike,” the report reads. The suspect “reached for a firearm he had well-concealed in his pants, and officers were able to remove it from him on the ground.” SPD says the suspect is a convicted felon and cannot legally possess a firearm.
  • 12th Ave phone sale robbery: A Monday, November 4th robbery is a reminder to be cautious meeting a stranger when selling items:
At 1516 hours, Officers responded to a Robbery Call at 800 12 Av. The victim advised that she was meeting the suspect at this location to sell her cell phone. The victim said that the suspect met her at this location and took her phone, the victim attempted to stop the suspect by grabbing the suspect’s shirt from the back. While the victim was holding onto the suspect’s shirt. The suspect continued to walk away, which caused the victim to be dragged. The victim advised that the driver of the Dodge Durango got out of the vehicle and pointed a Black handgun at the victim. The victim let go of the suspect’s shirt and the suspect got into the passenger side of the Dodge/DUR. Officers checked the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.
Police say there was no tracking on the phone. No injuries were reported.
  • Dinosaur package thief: In case you missed it, the East Precinct is proud of this arrest of a package theft suspect wearing a green dinosaur costume in October on Capitol Hill.

That pike/pine gun arrest is mad scary tho! He ain’t had no where to go be up to no good but pike/pine. That did not happen when I was growing up. We walked around all day into a new day with wigs and glitter… the glitter! And made due. These people walking around strapped like it’s East L.A. need to calm all that down. It’s Capitol Hill. Not Lakewood Washington in the 90’s.

That truly sucks about the Summit Foods robbery attempt. They’re good people, and it seems like they get hit all too often.

This reminds me that Belliagio Mercado on Bellevue got hit around 7 or 8 times during the holidays last year. They finally put massive bars on everything, and it looks like shit, but no more smash and grabs. The thieves must have moved on to the friendly neighborhood bodegas that don’t look like Alcatraz.
