25-year-old victim identified in deadly Pike/Pine shooting

The King County Medical Examiner has identified the 25-year-old woman killed in Saturday morning’s shooting on 11th Ave.

Investigators identified the woman as Breanna Simmons. The victim was shot multiple times in the chest and died in the street early Saturday as Seattle Police and Seattle Fire rendered aid at the scene.

Police were called to the 1400 block off 11th Ave to a report of at least three gunshots around 1:35 AM amid Pike/Pine nightlife crowds.

Police says they do not know what led up to the killing but witness reports described multiple vehicles leaving the scene at the time of the shooting and a possible shooter was described as a female wearing a blue jacket. Police have not confirmed that description.

No suspect vehicles were reported located and there were no arrests.

Police say an 11th Ave memorial for the victim early Sunday morning was targeted in another shooting that sent a man and a woman to the hospital.

Police found multiple shell casings and bullet damage along 11th Ave and one woman shot in the shoulder was located after fleeing around the corner in front of the Wildrose where she was being treated by Seattle Fire.

As that victim was transported to Harborview in stable condition, a male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg was reported to have walked into the emergency center. Police reported the male said he had been shot at a memorial for the victim in the Saturday morning shooting, according to East Precinct radio updates.

Officers fanned out across 11th Ave collecting evidence Sunday morning including multiple shell casings including rifle and handgun rounds.

Police were able to collect security video that captured Sunday’s shooting scene but are looking for information about both nights of gun violence in the Pike/Pine core. Police are asking anybody with information to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.

Public records show the 25-year-old resided in Renton.

Early Saturday’s murder was reported as the 52nd in the city this year as Seattle approaches last year’s total of 74.

Overnight Sunday, SPD was on the lookout for vehicles reported roaming the area with armed occupants following the second shooting in two nights. Police later recovered two handguns stashed in the bushes by one group along Broadway that had been spotted by private security.

Renton…

Nightlife violence is almost always imported.

We need to address this – discouraging car access on weekends & increased police presence – or else there will be more and more violent crime on the hill

Yeah. People are bored and have dope to sale to pike/pine patrons. Good luck with your proposal. Maybe you should be more practical. Curb drug usage. But you can’t do that in the arts district can you? Nope! Too many fun things to do.

“Curb drug usage.”

We’ve been trying for decades. The issue is the amount getting into the country and the potency. It’s going to take a minute to repair all that was broken during Covid.

I stand with your statement! It is a very difficult issue. And here in the progressive states, it can make one seem “questionable” if they voice their concerns about who, how and why? But yes and yes. The amount and the potency makes this issue code “all hands on deck.”

When the cops are on site. Nobody does anything. Patrols need to increase on Fri-Sat nights. A walking beat wouldn’t hurt in support for visibility. We are at that point.
