Suspect arrested after man trying to stop reported Broadway arson fire stabbed with broken bottle

A man was stabbed with a broken glass bottle and the suspect is in jail after a confrontation over a fire set in a Broadway parking garage early Tuesday morning.

Seattle Police and Seattle Fire were called to the reported stabbing just after 4 AM where a man had reportedly been stabbed as he and witnesses were attempting to put out a fire set in the parking garage of a 500-block Broadway E apartment building.

Officers spotted a man matching the suspect description in front of the nearby QFC. A group of three reportedly tried to flee on foot as police arrived. The suspect was chased down after a short foot chase, according to East Precinct radio.

Seattle Fire was at the scene to treat the victim who was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. SFD also took care of what was left of the parking garage fire.

The suspect was arrested for investigation of arson, harassment, and assault, according to police radio updates.

Small arson fires set to garbage and recycling receptacles have plagued the neighborhood this summer including a bout in June and another round in recent weeks.
