Reminder: Capitol Hill Community Council launch meeting Tuesday night

In true Capitol Hill style, the council revival effort has been promoted with flyers across the neighborhood

The revival of the Capitol Hill Community Council will move forward Tuesday night with a long-planned meeting hoped to jumpstart wider participation in restarting a community group to better represent the neighborhood in working with the city, developers, and launching new projects and initiatives.

Our First Meeting will be September 10, 2024 at the Capitol Hill Branch Library.

When: September 10, 2024 Doors Open 6:00pm – Meeting start 6:30pm

Where: Capitol Hill Branch Library – 425 Harvard Ave E, Seattle, WA 98102 – Behind the QFC

What: The First Meeting of the New Capitol Hill Community Council

  • Meet your neighbors
  • Learn about Capitol Hill
  • Find out about events in Capitol Hill
  • Learn more about the City

We are relaunching the Capitol Hill Community Council (CHCC). The community council helps by Connecting, Growing, and Sustaining. Connecting neighbors with each other, organizations and the government. Growing those connections through programs, outreach and activities. By Sustaining these new connections and the groups that make up the social fabric of Capitol Hill. Together we can help the Capitol Hill that exists today while making a better Hill for the future.

Connect – Meet your neighbors and members of the community. Bond of shared interests. Use a park? Engage with the community and governmental groups that make the parks in Capitol Hill some of the best.

Grow – Better understand what makes Capitol Hill the best neighborhood in the city. Form interest groups to help make Seattle sustainable, vibrant, and unique.

Sustain – The people, organizations and entities that made Capitol Hill what it is need you. To volunteer, donate, spread the word. The Capitol Hill of the future is forged by our work today.

CHS reported here on the effort led by resident Chris Paulus to restart the council group years after it faded away. “This is the community’s community council. It is my hope with this meeting to present a launching point for us neighbors to come together and figure out the next pieces, and figure out the progression,” Paulus said.

Tuesday night will bring a scheduling conflict for some. Donald Trump is set to debate Kamala Harris in what could be the only meeting between the two before November’s election. But, with a focus on local issues and community, the revival of the council is sticking with the long-planned Tuesday night meeting despite the presidential scheduling conflict.

I don’t see the problem. It’s not like on of the candidates are going to say something inferential

Wanted to go, but had commitments for a debate watch party. Glad to hear turnouts were good despite the schedule clash!
