Capitale Pizzeria hopes to offer the chance to travel the world via pizza, right on Broadway. The new pizzeria is set to open this month, debuting a menu that features unique combinations of flavors from around the globe coming together in a classic form we all know and love: pizza.
Capitale plans to bring inventive pies, made with high-quality ingredients that are carefully selected. “We want our creativity to surprise everyone,” said Rodrigo Parisi, managing partner of Capitale Pizzeria.
CHS first reported on the project here this summer.
Capitale is the Italian word for “capital,” which reflects the international innovation of the food they will serve. “All of our pizzas are named after the cities or regions that influenced that combination of ingredients, the reason for its existence, such as Madrid, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Lisbon, Rome or Naples,” said Parisi.
Entrepreneur and restaurant owner Parisi has hoped for years of opening a pizzeria that reflects the quality and uniqueness of the pies he grew up with. From Brazil and with Italian descent, Parisi says he has “always wondered why there wasn’t a pizzeria here with a product similar to that of São Paulo or Italy.”
Parisi is an experienced restaurant entrepreneur with deep roots in Seattle’s Italian cuisine as the managing partner and owner of La Fontana Siciliana in Belltown. Parisi and business partner Saulo Cruz have shepherded Belltown’s long-running La Fontana Siciliana into a new era after purchasing the restaurant from Mario Fuenzalida who ran the Blanchard Street joint for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2022.
On Capitol Hill, Capitale Pizzeria is owned and operated by three partners: Rodrigo Parisi, Rodrigo Caleffi, and Emerson Primo. Caleffi and Primo are the team behind Limoncello, another Italian venue in Belltown.
Capitale comes to Broadway in the wake of the sad passing of Marco Casas-Beaux, local business owner who founded the pair of Argentine eateries, Boca Restobar and Grill, the Boca Pizzeria and Bakery.
Casas-Beaux and Parisi were friends and supporters of each other’s ventures. After Casas-Beaux passed, Parisi initially talked with his family about trying to help keep the Boca restaurants open.
However, due to legal complications, the Casas-Beaux family was forced to shutter their father’s restaurants, and it was Marco’s son who introduced Parisi to the owners of the building that was home to the Boca Bakery.
The Boca Restobar and Grill location, meanwhile, will now host Chandelier Lounge, a new bar shepherded by the Bites of Bangkok team, Jansri Parichat and Pranesh Sharma.
The 426 Broadway E space where the new pizza joint is taking shape has undergone renovations that are now in their final stages, with Capitale set to open in coming weeks.
The Capitale Pizzeria team is excited to contribute to the restaurant scene of Capitol Hill. “I want people to feel comfortable coming to visit us, to feel welcome, and to leave already wanting to come back,” said Parisi.
Keeping up with the fast-paced scene of Broadway, Capitale will offer a dynamic menu, continuously adding new pies. They are starting off with a bang at 27 pizzas. “27 trips around the world,” said Parisi.
All those “trips,” however, are adding up when it comes to the new pizza restaurant owner’s figure.
“Having to taste hundreds of pizzas four to five times a week does not help at all with staying in shape,” Parisi said, “but it has been delicious.”
Capitale Pizzeria will open soon at 426 Broadway E. Learn more at capitalepizzeria.com.
