The Seattle Police Department has reportedly arrested one of the suspects in the shootout that locked down the Capitol Hill Safeway earlier this month — a 15-year-old who reportedly fled the scene at 15th and John on a scooter.
KOMO reports SPD says it spotted the teen Thursday night in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood. The kid reportedly fled on a scooter to a nearby 1100-block E Fir apartment building where police engaged in a short standoff believing the teen to be armed. “A family member who lived at the apartments calmed the boy down and got him to surrender,” KOMO reports.
CHS reported here on the August 11th shootout near the store involving at least two armed assailants that locked down the area around 15th and John.
No victims were found at the scene but 25 minutes later a 911 caller reported a male with a gunshot wound to the leg at 12th and Fir.
SPD says it is investigating the incidents as separate shootings but that the victim may have been related to the Capitol Hill shootout.
According to a radio update, Seattle Police were investigating the possibility a Glock handgun reported stolen earlier in the day was used in the Capitol Hill shooting.

No people in the city look like bigger jokers than the people that tried to shut down the youth jail.
But they feel great about themselves, knowing they’ve protected violent children from the repercussions of their actions.
One can believe that the cops aren’t the solution for every societal ill while still recognizing there are truly violent people (and kids) who need to be jailed while their cases are adjudicated.
The current reality certainly begs a new conversation about this. Hard to argue otherwise.
Nice work SPD, now lock him up.
Let’s hold the applause for when the government can prevent gun violence as they are officially and solely responsible for and not simply catching people after many lives were in danger and or people are killed with a gun the government should have prevented them from having.
No consequences. I do what I want. Dump Dow Constantine who wants to close the youth jail.
Hm so a person not legally able to own a gun still accessed a gun. It’s almost like the government can’t control where guns end up. Hm.
