  • Ambulance brick attack: Police arrested an area man in a bizarre string of attacks Sunday in the Central District after the occupant of a vehicle threw a brick through an ambulance window and seriously injured a medic. Police were called to 23rd and Union just after 5 PM Sunday where the medic suffered a possible broken jaw. According to witness accounts, the suspect leapt from a car and threw a brick through the AMR ambulance window as it was at the scene transporting a patient. The suspect and vehicle description matched details from two nearby incidents earlier that day in which a man had thrown a brick at a vehicle’s window. As police investigated the 23rd and Union attack, another driver flagged down police and reported a fourth brick attack. Police determined the registered owner of the suspect vehicle had an address in the area. When officers arrived at the nearby apartment building, the suspect vehicle was at the location, unoccupied. Police say the suspect was located and arrested at his residence and booked into jail for multiple felony assaults and felony property damage.
  • Fire truck rock attack: One person was arrested after a group was reported throwing rocks at a Seattle Fire ladder truck as it responded to reported small fire near Harvard and Union last Friday afternoon. Seattle Police reports a group of suspects was reported throwing rocks at the truck just after 12 PM. Officers arrived to find one of the suspects who reportedly threw a large rock that just missed a firefighter still at the scene. No firefighters were injured in the incident. SPD says the suspect has a history of crisis and assaults on officers and was arrested and booked into King County Jail.
  • Broadway stabbing: A man was stabbed in the head overnight as a fight turned into a knife assault at Broadway and Pike. Police were called to the corner just after 1:30 AM Friday to the reported assault and found a man at the scene bleeding from the head. Seattle Fire was called to treat and transport the man for a non-life threatening injury. According to East Precinct radio updates, police were investigating the incident as self defense.
  • $10,292 Lululemon theft suspect busted: Police busted a prolific University Village shoplifting suspect carrying a reported $2,500 in merchandise on Broadway last month. In the Friday, July 26th incident, SPD says it took the suspect into custody after they fled U Village and were spotted at Capitol Hill Station carrying $2,549.09 in goods stolen from Lululemon. Police say the suspect admitted they were involved in stealing and trafficking merchandise and that Lululemon “provided additional information connecting the suspect to $10,292.00 worth of previous thefts at their University Village location.” The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of first degree Organized Retail Theft.
  • Child struck by driver: A child crossing in the 600 block of 20th Ave S was struck by a driver and injured Tuesday. Police and Seattle Fire units were called to the scene just after 12:30 PM. Police say the child was leaving school with their grandmother and “broke free” running into the southbound lanes and “colliding with a vehicle.” The child suffered a possible broken toe and was treated on scene by Seattle Fire before being transported to Harborview. The driver was investigated for possible DUI but “determined to be safe to drive,” SPD reports.
  • Recent driver vs. pedestrian collisions: Multiple collisions involving people walking or riding hit by drivers were being investigated. In a Wednesday, July 31st incident near 15th and John, a 53-year-old woman crossing the street was struck by a driver. SFD treated her at scene and she was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A Friday, August 2nd incident injured a person struck by a vehicle while crossing at 12th and Howell around 1 PM. That same day around 2 PM, another incident sent one person to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a Metro bus driver struck a scooter rider at Broadway and Union. Monday just before 7 PM added another collision to the roster as a cyclist suffered non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a driver on Lake Washington Boulevard just south of Madrona Park. Six people struck by drivers while walking have been killed in the city so far this year, SDOT says, around the same pace as 2023 as officials continue to struggle with the city’s “Vision Zero” goals.
  • Teens open fire in reported car assault: Police were investigating a shooting incident near Garfield High School last week involving a car that reportedly drove onto a sidewalk trying to strike a group of teens who then opened fire on the vehicle. According to the SPD report on the Tuesday, July 30th incident, police were called to 24th and Fir around 9:15 PM after a 911 caller reported the incident but found the group of teens and vehicle had fled the scene. Police located at least one shell casing at the intersection. There were no arrests.
  • Armed stolen car suspect arrest: SPD made an arrest as they assisted the Federal Way Police Department after a recently carjacked vehicle was located near 11th and Fir early Monday morning. SPD says a group of suspects fled from the vehicle including a male armed with a handgun and an “AR style rifle.” —
When Officers arrived, they located the occupied suspect vehicle parked in the alley between 11 AV and 12 AV, just north of E Fir St. The occupants had essentially placed themselves at a dead-end and subsequently fled on foot. West Precinct Officers quickly set up containment and KCSO resources were requested to assist in the search for the suspects. While on containment, and Officer observed one of the suspects who fled the vehicle emerge from between the buildings. A brief foot pursuit was initiated, and the suspect was subsequently taken into custody in large part due to the assistance of a bystander who grabbed on to the suspect and held him to the ground. KCSO K9 Handlers arrived on scene and began a suspect search. Ultimately the 2nd suspect was not located.
Federal Way police responded to the scene and took custody of the suspect, SPD reports.
  • Panda onesie arrest: Police issued a “help the officer” emergency call as they attempted to arrest a man reported in a panda onesie drinking beer on the Seattle U campus and making threats in a Sunday, July 26th incident:
At 1349 hours, Officers responded to Seattle University for a man trespassing near one of their loading docks. Officers responded and found a suspect in a Panda onesie drinking beer. The suspect refused to leave. Officers attempted to escort the suspect off of the property when the suspect began to fight with officers. The officers called out on radio that they were fighting and a “help the officer” was broadcast. Multiple units arrived to assist and the suspect was taken into custody. While waiting for and AMR transport the suspect made multiple threats to kill officers on scene. During the investigation it was also revealed that the suspect had threatened to kill school employees due to their race.
SPD says the suspect was arrested for investigation of malicious harassment and for threats to kill.

Since the king county jail decided to stop jailing people things have gotten really bad. Hopefully sending these guys to the SCORE jail in Burien can give us a break from these people.

We, as a city, decided some time ago that it’s a person’s right to live their life on the streets stuck in a paranoid delusion… until we have both the will and facilities to really stabilize these folks rather than either do nothing or just hold them for a few days and put them back out on the streets, this will continue.

Pedestrian/vehicle collisions: not life threatening but they can be life altering. 18 months ago, I was in a pedestrian/vehicle collision. Inattentive, impatient driver. Be safe… and drivers: you’ll get to where you are going. Pay attention in crosswalks!

A depressing roster. Plus today someone throwing shit off the Pike Street overpass onto cars on I-5. And whenever I see “booked in to King County jail” I think *for a day maybe” until Leesa Manion finds a reason not to charge. Can we please dump Leesa Manion? No accountability in this city and it increasingly sucks. We do not have to accept this. We do not need to live like this
