Capitol Hill bar Corvus & Co., in all its “mystical” glory, is being passed on to new owners. Don’t worry — they like magic and fun too.
First time food and drink entrepreneurs Liv Cruzat and Nick Crowley intend to preserve and foster the community that Corvus & Co. has built over its eight years on North Broadway.
They are excited and ready to dive into this venture, but they aren’t looking to change the game.
“We love the concept, the energy, the employees,” said Cruzat. “We believe in the heart and soul that exists here and we want to maintain and cultivate that.”
CHS reported here on the sale of the bar to the couple in May.
They may be first-time owners, but Cruzat, born and raised in Seattle, grew up in the restaurant environment. Her uncle, Mike McAlpin owned Mama’s Mexican Kitchen, a Belltown mainstay for over 40 years.
This family endeavor was a major inspiration for Cruzat and Crowley. “A lot of people thought we were making a crazy decision—buying a bar. Mama’s made it feel realistic,” said Crowley.
Like Mama’s, Corvus & Co. has employees that have worked there since the beginning and regulars that come in every day.
It’s a place where people come together and there’s something for everybody, “from $5 beers to creative, craft cocktails, and everything in between,” said Cruzat.
Cruzat and Crowley attribute Corvus & Co.’s culture to founders Izzy Guymon and Paul Berryman who poured their hearts—and manual labor—into the bar. Guymon and Berryman built much of the bar by hand, and even carved the signature plaster owl that dons the wall themselves.
“The things we like to do are eat and drink and show people a good time,” the couple say, something they have in common with founders Guymon and Berryman.
The new owners have turned to the longstanding community of employees and customers for insight and feedback. “We’re always asking questions,” said Crowley. “What do you like? What should we lean into?”
While they intend to preserve the core essence of Corvus & Co., Cruzat and Crowley are excited to make their mark.
Some of the changes they are hoping to implement include new promotions, improving the outdoor patio, implementing rotating and seasonal drinks, and hosting events like tarot readings that reflect the spirit of the bar.
“We’re really passionate about creating an awesome place to work,” said Cruzat.
Cruzat and Crowley take a lot of pride in Seattle, and in Capitol Hill specifically.
“A lot of people talk about how Seattle used to be. We see it for what it is now and we like it. We think [Corvus & Co.] is a place of opportunity to build up the community and make it better,” said Crowley.

glad to have continued local and interested ownership of a good place like corvus. with the opposite side of the street doomed to become a giant ugly cube, it’s more important than ever.
Well said.
