CHS took you inside new Capitol Hill cocktail bar Guillotine, the latest addition to Broadway’s nightlife, earlier this week.
Here is a look at the latest addition to Broadway’s day-life.
Seasmith opened a couple weeks back above Capitol Hill Station after years of anticipation.
The casual hangout from the Burien Press family has been part of the plans for new businesses in the mixed-use development above the busy transit station but the pandemic and bureaucratic delays made for a long wait.
Your order is now ready.
The new hangout is in “preview” mode, serving coffee and cafe goods daily from 7 AM to 2 PM.
It will eventually join Guillotine in serving Broadway’s night scene. Owner Matthew Wendland has said he wants Seasmith to become an “all day cafe” with the intent of “activating every part of the day — coffee, fresh food in morning, full kitchen, lunch, dinner, beer, natural wine.”
The new cafe is located at 118 Broadway E. Check out @seasmith.xyz for updates.

Seasmith is very close to me so I’ve already been a couple times. Their scones are delicious and so is their espresso. I didn’t realize the barista that’s usually there was the owner too – super nice guy! Great addition to the neighborhood.
Welcome to the neighborhood!
New businesses, more police presence, cleaner streets and no visible homelessness & drug use =>> how we get back on track!
Yes please on staying open in the evening!
This place is so good. Coffee on point and some of the best baked goods I’ve had in the area
