  • 22nd Ave standoff: There were no arrests after a standoff sparked by gunfire and a possible hostage situation late Tuesday night on 22nd Ave. Police were called to the area of 22nd and Alder around 11 PM after multiple callers reported gunfire. Officers arrived and set a cordon around the building. SPD reports several people exited the building. Police proceeded to call several subjects out of the building and they detained and questioned. SPD says police were told someone was being held in one of the units by an armed subject. SWAT and the Hostage Negotiation Team were called to the scene, and a search warrant was obtained and served but police say the suspect was not found. Police reportedly seized “various firearm accessories but no firearm.” There were no reported arrests.
  • Shooting victim found on Boylston: SPD found a man who had been injured in a shooting but were unable to determine where the shooting had taken place in an incident in the 1200 block of Boylston early on Sunday, June 2nd. Just before 1 AM, a 911 caller reported a victim had been shot. Officers found the victim and provided medical aid until Seattle Fire arrived. The victim said they were dropped off and would not provide further information on location of shooting, according to police. Officers could not locate a shooting scene. The victim was transported to Harborview. There were no arrests.
  • 20th/Marion rolling gun battle: Police were called to the Central District last Tuesday around 7:30 PM after multiple callers reported two vehicles following each other and shooting near 20 Ave and E Marion. SPD says officers located shell casings from at least two firearms. East Patrol processed the scene and canvassed the area for witnesses and cameras. There were no reported injuries and no arrests.
  • Arson swarm: Police are investigating a recent swarm of arson fires around the East Precinct including two involving fires intentionally set in dumpsters early Wednesday morning. Seattle Fire says firefighters were called to a 12:45 AM fire at 14th and Spruce and extinguished a dumpster fire that extended to the siding of an adjacent residential garage. No injuries were reported. Investigators ruled the fire was intentionally set and shared their findings with Seattle Police. A few hours later around 3:35 AM, SFD responded to another fire in the 1300 block of E Yesler where a car was found to have been intentionally set on fire. Small garbage fires were also reported at Boylston and Thomas, Boren at Madison, and 12th at Fir in the past week. On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 4th, a dumpster fire singed a building at 13th and Howell. Meanwhile, police were also investigating a possible intentional fire inside a 10th Ave apartment building Monday morning where a building resident was taken into custody. Another arson fire was reported inside a 1400-block Madison apartment building early on the morning of Tuesday, May 28th. Meanwhile, a massive fire earlier this week in the International District destroyed a S Jackson commercial building. SFD says the early Monday incident required excavators to fully extinguish the fire in a vacant commercial building. Investigators could not determine a cause. No injuries were reported.
  • Reported attempted kidnapping: Police are investigating an attempted stranger kidnapping of a child outside St. James Cathedral on First Hill earlier this month. According to the East Precinct report on the incident, police were called to a nearby parking lot just before 7 PM on Saturday, June 1st to a report a man had tried to grab the caller’s 4-year-old daughter from her arms. Police searched the area for the suspect reported as a white male in his 30s, around 5′ 9″, with a large build, mustache, a bandage on his arm, and wearing an army green hat and t-shirt, and black jeans at the time of the incident. There were no arrests.

re: Reported attempted kidnapping

That same guy with the Army shirt and the bandage on his arm harassed me on the 60 bus around 6 months ago, and he got off the bus right in front of St James.
