  • Pratt Park shooting: An uptick in gun violence and shots fired incidents across the city includes several reports across the East Precinct including a Friday night incident involving a reported 163 shell casings recovered and a gunshot wound victim arriving later at Harborview after gunfire was reported near the Central District’s Pratt Park. Arriving officers to the just before 3 AM incident reported the massive amount of spent casings “of mixed handgun calibers and rifle rounds” in three groupings near 20th Ave and S Main but no victims found at the scene. “Several hours later,” Harborview reported a gunshot wound victim “walked into the ER” minutes after the reported shooting. Police later interviewed the victim. SPD says officers also located damage to several buildings and vehicles, and recovered one Glock magazine at the scene. There were no arrests.
  • Shooting victims dropped at Harborview: Late Monday night, police were also called to First Hill’s Harborview after two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds were reported dropped off near the emergency room entrance. “Officers arrived on scene and upon contact with both individuals were met with refusal to cooperate on any information on where or how this incident occurred,” SPD reports. The department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives responded to the scene and assumed investigation, SPD says. Earlier that night, SPD was called to a report of a single gunshot inside a Capitol Hill apartment building but the incidents did not appear to be connected. SPD says officers arrived at the building and contacted on site security who reported a single shot and observed a man on the 3rd floor holding a handgun.Officers formed a contact team and cleared the floors but did not locate any casings, bullet damage or the suspect. Police performed and area check but did not locate a suspect. There were no arrests.
  • High school grad shooting: Monday, June 17th brought a young shooting victim to Harborview who claimed he had graduated from high school that day and had been randomly shot in the leg:
At 2246 hours, GSW victim walked into HMC with a gunshot injury to the upper leg / Groin area. The subject refused to speak to officers except to state the following information: He was in SODO near the International District taking photos after graduating high school today when an unknown person walked up and shot him for unknown reasons. HMC provided security footage of a sedan with multiple males dropping him off before leaving in an unknown direction.
SPD says there were no gunshot reports in the area where the victim claimed he was when he was shot. SPD is investigating.
  • More suspicious fires: Another batch of arson investigations has followed a string of suspicious fires set in dumpsters next to area apartment buildings that has gone unsolved. Last Tuesday brought two more suspicious fires to the area. Around 4 PM, passersby reported a large explosion and fire near 14th and Malden. Seattle Fire responded and found a vehicle engulfed in flames in the car port directly underneath an occupied apartment building. Investigators determined the fire was set intentionally. Damage was fortunately limited. Later that night just before 11 PM, Seattle Fire was called to a blaze on First Hill in the 700 block of 7th Ave where police say investigators determined items were placed against a door of the property and intentionally set on fire causing damage to the building but no injuries. There have been no announced arrests.
  • Madison Park ATM robbery: Police were searching for two suspects after a reported armed robbery targeted a customer using the Madison Park Key Bank’s ATM. Police say they were called to the area just after 9:30 PM Saturday and contacted the victim who said she was able to track a phone stolen in the hold-up to South Seattle. SPD says officers dispatched to the location “intercepted the suspects committing another robbery at gunpoint.” SPD says the suspects attempted to flee the scene in a stolen vehicle “but were successfully taken into custody.” “It was later discovered the stolen vehicle was wanted in connection with an armed carjacking and multiple robberies,” SPD reports.
  • Montlake roof standoff: SPD engaged with an hours-long standoff with a burglary suspect threatening to jump from the roof of a Montlake home last Wednesday:
At 1607 hours, On listed date a suspect walked into an occupied home on the 2800 blk of E Park Dr E, wandered upstairs and out onto the balcony before climbing onto the roof. The homeowner was able to escape out the back and call police. The suspect was high and claimed people were chasing him with guns.
“After an hour of negotiations, he climbed down from the roof and was taken into custody with no further incident,” SPD reports.

More gun crimes. Where’s the lawful gun stories? I’ve heard maybe 2 in my entire life. Ban guns.

Visit a shooting range. Be surrounded by people with guns that aren’t shooting you. You’ll be able to tell your own lawful gun story. Maybe you might even talk to a few lawful gun owners that promote proper storage and training.

I’d rather people not be gearing up to defend themselves from other people with guns because guns are something we must all be prepared to encounter everyday as americans. Ban them so we won’t have to be armed to the teeth and prepared to blow each other away please. That is not a society.

Maybe Harborview should stop treating these gunshot “victims,” at least some of whom might be receiving treatment free of charge, until they show willingness to cooperate with police investigating the shooting incidents which led to their injuries. Nothing like the threat of bleeding out to loosen previously closed lips.

I am aware of it. I am just questioning it’s value in these instances.

I just think it is tragic that we are required to provide medical assistance to the people who are actively shooting at each other in our city, and that we do so even when they refuse to assist police to investigate the incident. Their behavior ensures there will be more shooting incidents, more emergency room visits, and more dead people. I would like fewer of all those things. If that makes me twisted, I am fine with that.

Yes, because cooperating with the police has had such great success for many in the past 🙄

Seattle police instil very little confidence, this is the same group that can’t seem to police themselves at all, and continue to employ officers that have recklessly killed our fellow neighbors. For example, officer Kevin Dave, the one that struck and killed Jaahnavi Kandula, was hired despite SPD knowing he was fired from Tucson PD during his probationary period for several incidents, including a couple vehicle related ones that seem like foreshadowing now. Despite this, he continues to be employed by SPD, and the news just keeps getting more and more damning, he didn’t have a valid WA license at the time of the incident and to my knowledge still hasn’t even paid the driving citation he was issued for the incident…

Meanwhile the former chief was forced to resign amidst scandal and then used his sexuality as some lame excuses that he couldn’t have fostered a culture that was sexist towards women 🙄

Perhaps turn you’re ire towards those making taxpayer money while breaking laws despite being tasked with enforcing them!

Well, thank you, although I am actually a liberal democrat. Sorry if that upsets expectations.

I’m a bit confused by “14th and Malden”, I don’t think those roads intersect.

163 casings but only one victim who made it to the hospital?

Either somebody’s doing some back room medical work or these morons have the worst aim ever.
