Expect snarled traffic on I-5, 405, 520, and I-90 Friday afternoon as President Joe Biden arrives in Seattle for a fundraising stop.
520, meanwhile, will be closed for construction.
If past visits are any indication, the motorcade might also be making a pass near Capitol Hill bringing temporary roadblocks and traffic diversions to the area.
Air Force One is expected to touch down at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport during the Federal Aviation Administration-issued flight restrictions between 5:15 to 6:30 PM Friday.
Biden is in Seattle for fundraising events scheduled for Friday and Saturday. In a 2022 stop, Biden’s visit included an event at a $12 million Denny Blaine lakefront home hosted by Microsoft president Brad Smith.
Democrats have a history of blazing fundraising trails through Madrona. CHS reported here on Barack Obama’s 2010 luncheon with donors at the home of tech exec Rob Glaser. Another common destination is on the other side of the lake in Medina.
The visit will be complicated by construction. The 520 bridge will be closed from 11 PM Friday to 5 AM Monday. The closure will shut down 520 from I-5 to Clyde Hill. Lake Washington Boulevard will also be closed in the area.
Further logistics typically include 5th Ave’s Westin for lodging during presidential visits.
Biden’s itinerary calls for the president to leave Seattle sometime Saturday.
