Nagle Place ‘shank’ stabbing sends one to hospital

A woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a stabbing Saturday morning on Nagle Place west of Cal Anderson.

Police and Seattle Fire were called to the street near the park’s fountain around 9:30 AM where the victim was reported down and uncious.

A woman man in critical condition from stab wounds was reported transported to Harborview by Seattle Fire, according to police radio updates. UPDATE: SFD says the victim was a man in his 30s.

The suspect used a “shank” in the attack, according to police radio.

According to radio updates, police were able to learn the identity of the alleged attacker and were searching the area for a man matching his description.

There were no immediate arrests reported.

Seattle Fire also responded to multiple trash and rubbish fires nearby along Broadway in the minutes following the stabbing.

The area of Saturday’s assault has been a crime and disorder trouble spot. Last year, the Cal Anderson Park Alliance community group called on the city to address the “drug market” that has taken shape on Nagle Place along the west edge of the park with safety and lighting upgrades after a double homicide took the lives of two brothers on the street.

Meanwhile, efforts to improve the busy and heavily used park continue and the area where the Black Lives Memorial Garden was removed remains fenced off.

Why isn’t there a description of the suspect and name if they know who he is?

Something a little strange about either the suspect or the story. Outside of confinement there are more effective readily available replacements for a shank.

shanks are used to shiv people, maybe this is the intention?

“In the 1950s, British criminal Billy Hill described his use of the shiv:

I was always careful to draw my knife down on the face, never across or upwards. Always down. So that if the knife slips you don’t cut an artery. After all, chivving is chivving, but cutting an artery is usually murder. Only mugs do murder.[6]”

That Mutual Aid tent that extends onto Nagle Pl needs to go. The two attacks that occurred this month have occurred near that spot. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Mutual Aid is harboring criminals there. I’m saying what others are afraid of saying. So let it be known.

Of course they are. You have your head in the sand if you believe otherwise.
