A block of Eastlake’s neighborhood core home to the Zoo Tavern and Pazzo’s won’t be quieted long after an overnight fire early Saturday morning.
Seattle Fire responded around 1:30 AM Saturday to the reported fire in the 1927-era building home to Pazzo’s and a set of upstair twin apartments andy quickly brought the blaze under control.
“The building was built in the early 1900s and its structure is of old growth fir, so if the fire department did not act so quickly as they did the building would have been engulfed in its entirety,” Pazzo’s owner Dave Mendoza Herrarte tells CHS about the incident.
Mendoza said the 2300 block Eastlake Ave E response to the electrical wall fire was handled quickly with little damage to the restaurant below and that he is hoping to reopen in a few days.
“Weβve been around for over 30 years and expect to stay around for another 30 years,” Mendoza said.
It is business as usual at the Zoo and its 1927-built structure, too, apparently.
Seattle Fire says there were no injuries and an investigation was underway to determine a damage estimate and a cause for the fire.

Is the Zoo okay????
Yes
The real story is the dumb-ass who tried to prevent people from the Zoo from spraying the fire with extinguishers.
