One to hospital, police looking for another possibly hit in 23rd and Union shooting

One person was taken to the hospital and bullets hit at least two apartment windows in a shooting Wednesday night at 23rd and Union. Police were also looking for another possible person who may have been hit and fled the scene.

Seattle Police were called to the area just before 9:30 PM and found one person down with a gunshot wound near the Uncle Ike’s pot shop. SPD said the patient was transported by Seattle Fire to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

According to East Precinct radio updates, a shooter reportedly left the scene in a vehicle and officers were working with area security cameras to review video of the shooting scene and get a better description of the people involved in the incident including the other male reported to have been hit in the gunfire.

Police collected evidence at the scene including multiple shell casings and documented bullet damage to apartment windows in the nearby Midtown Square building. Later in the night, Seattle Fire was called back to the scene to treat a resident who began suffering from chest pain after one of her windows was hit.

You’re right!!! The expectation was that crime would stop completely. Stop being ignorant.

Yes, we all thought that Hollingsworth, with her newfound MAGA superpowers, would have been there to stop the bullets, crush the gun, and fly the perp down to the jailhouse by the scruff of their jacket. All on day one of being in office. Hands wiped together, arms crossed, problem solved.

Meanwhile, in the real world, this is some crazy sh*t, even for the history of gangs in the neighborhood, that doesn’t care one whit if it’s a radical socialist or rabid republican in office.

So, you’re saying that Hollingsworth is a “rabid republican/MAGA”?
Come on!

Groan… I almost wrote a sarcasm alert addendum because I figured there’d be at least one… Hollingsworth is anything but MAGA, or conservative, and I happily voted for her during this election. It’s the Sawantists that paint anyone that moves even an inch to the center from her Marxist stance as rabid Republicans in the pocket of Bezos.

Brother, I hate to break it to you but you voted for the conservative pro-business candidate. Despite her lack of policy proposals, Hollingsworth is clearly a Liberal. If that’s confusing to your political sensibilities, then you gotta update your definitions. The chamber of commerce in Seattle (and every other major city) prefer to enact Liberal free-market policies that almost exclusively help the wealthiest among us, to the detriment of everyone else. What makes you think she’s NOT conservative? The council was literally discussing rolling back the jumpstart tax on day one…you think there’s gonna be less shootings without that money coming into our city budget?

Hollingsworth might as well be republican. She’s not MAGA, but I have not seen one progressive stance of hers. Not one. She is pretty awful policy wise.

Don’t you think it’s a little early to be labeling her a Republican? She’s been in office only a few days. Please wait a year or two, and see how she performs, then label her conservative if you think that’s appropriate.

This happened in parking lot of Uncle Ike’s. As if I needed another reason never to shop at Uncle Ike’s

These gang shootings are largely being done by extremely young (underage) men from Somali communities south of Seattle (I.e., Des Moines). What are the authorities doing to try and make inroads into these communities and address these issues? These are not folks with long-standing ties to the CD. There are not powerful church elders to engage. These kids need to be jailed for these crimes but a great deal of work needs to be done to prevent the next batch of 13-18 year olds from picking up where they left off.

There’s a lot of youth programs for which even you can volunteer. Not sure how you made the assessment of Somalis but okay…the entire Black community and culture in Seattle was destroyed. What’s left just leads a bloody path to gentrification. It’s a done deal. Seattle is also probably more corrupt than Seattle people realize or will ever speak about due to fear.

Good luck, Hollingsworth. You’ve positioned yourself between progress and reactionary anti-human goons. Didn’t turn out too well for Claudine Gay, so you’re going to have to do far more than lean on your identity to solve the issues being caused by regressive taxes and fascist-adjacent landlords. No amount of milquetoast fencesitting will magically create solutions for Seattle’s current issues.
