CHS Pics | Stoup Brewing celebrates Capitol Hill Magic Hazy IPA, its first brew at Broadway and Union

Stoup Brewing has made its first Capitol Hill beer.. The decade-old Seattle microbrewery that expanded onto the Hill last year with its acquisition of the neighborhood’s Optimism Brewing held a party Thursday marking the release of its new Capitol Hill Magic Hazy IPA.

“We went through a whole lot of it last night which we must say felt pretty damn good,” Stoup posted about the fun.

CHS reported here on the 10-year anniversary of Stoup and its settling into the expansive Broadway at Union beer hall and brewing facility created and handed off by Optimism.

While the popular beer hall created out of the auto row-era showroom and garage was the centerpiece of the deal, Stoup also says it has big plans for the 16,000-square-foot, its 20-barrel brewing facility.

Now, just about six months after bringing the venue into the Stoup family, the Ballard-born beer maker is pouring its first Capitol Hill brew, an IPA that showcases the variety’s popularity — and its relative speed of production. Other, slower brewing styles should follow.

Stoup joins tiny Outer Planet, which has been brewing since 2015 on 12th Ave, as Capitol Hill’s only independent breweries.

Stoup Capitol Hill is located at 1158 Broadway. Learn more atΒ stoupbrewing.com/capitol-hill.
