Capitol Hill’s Seattle Asian Art Museum expanding hours with Thursday openings

Now, we just need Wednesdays. Capitol Hill’s Seattle Asian Art Museum has announced it is adding Thursday openings to its schedule making the Volunteer Park culture and art facility available for public visits four days a week.

The new schedule will begin Thursday, October 5th, SAAM says with the museum open Thursdays through Sundays for visitors.

The expanded schedule comes two years after the museum reopened in May 2021. SAAM shuttered in mid-March 2020 as COVID-19 numbers climbed. Only weeks earlier, the building had reopened after three years of closure and construction to overhaul and expand the museum.

Its schedule still hasn’t fully recovered. Prior to the pandemic, SAAM was open five days a week.

Meanwhile, it’s not clear how the new Thursday openings will change the museum’s participation in fee admission days. Many venues are open for free to the public on the first Thursday of the month. With no Thursday hours, SAAM had been maintaining a free “last Friday” schedule.

The Seattle Asian Art Museum is located at 1400 E Prospect. Learn more at seattleartmuseum.org.

Finally… the SAM on 2nd is so boring… there is no park right outside for me to digest what I saw in the museum.
