Seattle Police were photographing a blood trail running from E Cherry to E Union after a man was found shot at 23rd and Union Thursday morning.
According to Seattle Fire and East Precinct radio updates, a 911 caller reported finding the man just after 6 AM near Uncle Ike’s just off the intersection with his upper body covered in blood and saying he had been shot.
Police reported the man said he had been shot near 23rd and Cherry.
Seattle Fire treated the man at the scene and transported him to Harborview. UPDATE: SFD reports the victim was transported in serious condition to the hospital.
SPD was busy documenting the crime scene that stretched for blocks between the site of the reported shooting and where the victim was found.
There were no reported immediate arrests.
UPDATE x2: SPD has posted a brief on the incident:
At 06:00hrs, officers responded to 23rd Avenue and East Union Street to a report of a man shot. Upon arrival, officers located a victim with a gunshot wound and provided aid until SFD arrived. SFD later transported the man to HMC where he remains in stable condition. Officers located the shooting scene at a business near the intersection of 23rd Avenue and East Cherry Street. It appears the victim was shot in his vehicle by the passenger that was inside with him. The suspect fled west on East Cherry Street and was not located.

Would love it if Joy Hollingsworth and Alex Hudson could speak of how exactly they plan on addressing the surge in gun violence and gang activity in our neighborhood. SPD does NOT have a gang unit/task force. I’m looking for what specific, actionable and achievable plans to address this they would take within their term (I.e., don’t punt and say world peace, ending capitalism, etc). People are being shot and killed regularly. This is priority number one!
Agree…not impressed w/anything either has said so far.
All they will say is that we need to focus on equity and upstream solutions…blah, blah blah, while denying the reality of the entrenched drug related gang violence as rival gangs fight over the lucrative fentanyl market created by stupid policies that attract and enable addicts to live in Seattle with no consequences.
We should have chosen Bobby Goodwin. He was the only one out of the bunch who had common sense and wasn’t afraid to say or do what needs to be done. I don’t think anything will change with Joy and definitely not with Alex.
We are going to need cameras everywhere and severe consequences for those who interfere with our police officers’ jobs. We want more GOOD officers hired as soon as possible.
All of you who marched to defund the police at the WORST possible time for our city have blood on your hands. Throw criminals in prison and don’t let them out until they are educated and socialized enough to understand how to live in a civil society.
