While the mayor is trying to sort out how to activate downtown, a monthly Capitol Hill street market and celebration is making plans for its return.
The “second Saturdays” On the Block street fair is gearing up for its May 13th 2023 debut with plans for the monthly event to run again through October.

CHS reported last year on the formation of the 11th Ave street market powered by the Neighborhood Economic Recovery Fund, an effort from the city to help boost artists and small businesses in the wake of COVID-19 restrictions and pandemic challenges.
“What we hope to do is build a kind of community that will level the playing field by bringing people together authentically, and also super organically create an environment that is more safe for our communities,” Julie-C, founder of artist support group Forever Safe Spaces, and project coordinator for On The Block, told CHS last year.
Registration is currently open at ontheblockseattle.com for creators and vendors to be part of the mix.
Area bars, restaurants, and shops are also part of the event with booths and specials aligned with the monthly schedule. Others like E Pike streetwear fashion provider Mediums Collective are also collaborating to organize this coming summer’s events.
