Tamarind Tree is settling into its new neighborhood by helping to host a Capitol Hill New Year’s Eve party in the former R Place building.
The Bling Ball will be what could be the first of many collaborations between Tamarind Tree and Capitol Hill arts and tech nonprofit Third Place Technologies.
The New Year’s party is planned to have two dance floors with DJs Black Velveteen, Derek Pavone, Geo Xeal, Joey Webb, LGSP and Trinitron at the decks in a night hosted by drag performers Alessandra Hunt, Atasha Manila, Pinay Grigio, and Whispurr Watershadow. Tamarind will be providing “finger snacks” and midnight champagne.
The new addition to Capitol Hill’s NYE party rundown comes as Tam Nguyen’s Little Saigon restaurant is expanding to E Pine with the purchase of the former R Place nightclub building with plans for an overhaul of the auto row-era structure.
The party organizers are dubbing the venue The Teal Building in the party promotions. “Come dressed as your best bling self, and dance the night away at a benefit to support the local arts and LGBTQ+ communities in Capitol Hill, Seattle,” the promo reads. Proceeds from the $50 presale/$75 day of tickets will benefit arts programming in the building as well asΒ Lambert House and Gay City Arts, organizers say.
The Bling Ball is December 31st with doors opening at 9 PM in The Teal Building at 619 E Pine.
