Taurus Ox won’t open for Tuesday service as the Laotian-flavored eatery gears up for greater than expected demand in its new home on Capitol Hill.

Khampaeng “KP” Panyathong and the crew at Taurus Ox served “twice as many guests as anticipated” last week as they debuted in the new space and needed to take a day off to replenish the kitchen and do some training as they settle in on 19th Ave E.

CHS reported here on the reshuffling of the Taurus Ox food and drink family that saw the popular 2019-born restaurant move to the former Vios space on19th Ave E from E Madison as its cousin Money Frog hopped from 19th Ave E to 15th and Pine.

Starting again Wednesday, Taurus Ox will resume its standard Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 9 PM service as it builds its new home on this eastern edge of Capitol Hill with a menu including Thom Khem Caramelized pork belly, Phad Lao rice noodles, Lao Pork Sausage, and the burger with “jaew bong mayo, pickled red onions, taro stem, and cilantro on a toasted bun,” plus wine, beer, and cocktails.

Food + drink notes

A sign of progress for the new Glo’s above Capitol Hill Station — thanks to the CHS Facebook Group for sharing

  • Don’t forget. You have until October 29th to visit Kedai Makan one last time. CHS reported here on the decision from owners Kevin Burzell and Alysson Wilson to move on from the Bellevue Ave Malaysian favorite.
  • You have even less time to say goodbye to Joe Bar. The beloved E Roy cafe has moved its planned final day of service up to October 25th.
  • As Glo’s continues to pop up on the decks at Captain Black’s after fire damaged its E Olive Way original home, the diner’s bigger and better space above Capitol Hill Station is taking shape. Proof? The sign has gone up.
  • The new Neighbor Lady is also taking shape in the Central District.
  • New ownership at E Pine’s Poco will include a new emphasis on events. CHS reported here on Jesse Rhodes continuing a history of Black-ownership at the lounge as he took over the business earlier this year. Now the “thought leader, philanthropist, and entrepreneur” is adding a slate of events to Poco’s calendar starting with a “Cocktails & Conversations” Wednesday, October 19th. Poco also has some new meaning — Rhodes says the bar now stands for the spirit of “a purposeful acronym” — POCO: Purposeful Organic Captivating Optimistic.
  • Seattle Restaurant Week returns October 23rd through November 5th. The Seattle Good Business Network that puts on the annual event says around 150 restaurants, food trucks, bars, pop-ups will participate this year and assures diners that participation in the promotion is free to all participating businesses. You can learn more and make your plans at srweek.org.
  • Otherworld Wine Bar could be getting close to debuting in the overhauled Artificial Limb Co. at the intersection of 14th and Pike just off E Madison — the state approved the Juice Club venture’s liquor license last week.
  • La Rue Creperie and Espresso continues to do its thing on E Olive Way beneath The Reef pot shop but will be making space for a friend. Havana Sweets will pop up in the space this week on Friday and Saturday and again next Tuesday.
