Upstairs/downstairs, Slow Dance brings new levels of vintage and fashion to E Pike

The roots of one of Capitol Hill’s more interesting retail, art, and music experiments has a new offshoot in the middle of Pike/Pine’s bars and restaurants.

Slow Dance, a vintage and fashion shop from “the founders of Prism, Cairo and a few other spots around town over the years” is now open on E Pike with plans for a big September grand opening debut.

“Slow Dance provides a fresh take on vintage coupled with modern/new accessories from local and national designers (Chunks and Anna Learns Things to name a few),” the announcement reads. “With its upstairs/downstairs layout, Slow Dance will provide retail, art shows, and events.”

CHS reported here on the 2016 closure of the Cairo art, retail, and music space at Mercer and Summit as owners Aimee Butterworth and Joel Leshefka shifted their retail efforts to focus on the Prism shop in Ballard.

Slow Dance has now arrived and is resident on E Pike between Via Tribunali and the coming soon Seattle expansion of vegan Jewish deli Ben and Esther’s. It joins a block also home to shops including L.A.-based footwear and apparel boutique BAIT and Pike/Pine retail veteran Retail Therapy.

Saturday, September 10th Friday, September 9th will bring a celebration of the new shop, art, and event space with a show including visual artists and special retail guests:

OPENING NIGHT at Slow Dance, a new Vintage/Modern/Art space brought to you by the founders of Prism, Cairo and a few other spots around town over the years.

WHEN: Friday September 9th, 2022 // 7 pm – midnight
