I’m so sorry to read about the pedestrian accident. As part of the Your Voice Your Choice program for street and park improvements, SDOT did testing back in 2018/2019 and determined that Bellevue Avenue East qualified for crosswalk improvements due to the traffic volume and speed of vehicles.

There is currently nothing to slow traffic from Belmont Avenue East and Denny. Many traffic route apps recommend the street because of this. The proposal had called for marked crosswalks at Republican and Thomas. Unfortunately, it did not get enough votes to qualify for construction.

Traffic on the street has only increased since then. It would be great if the city would revisit this. I believe even without the #47 in service, the area would qualify for safety improvements.

Sadly, the city is too busy banning gas leaf blowers

Funny you say that – personally, I bet the same people who want to ban gas leaf blowers also generally favor building crosswalks, and the people who own gas leaf blowers are more likely to be the ones who blow through crosswalks and endanger pedestrians

Well, city staff are able to walk and chew gum at the same time.

The only people that care about the gas leaf blower ban are those folks that don’t even live here and are trying to act like they have some investment in the city. Stay in snohomish…
