Seattle Police were collecting evidence and there was a report of one person suffering a minor shrapnel injury in a round of gunfire Thursday at 23rd and Jackson.
Gunfire and a possible shooting victim were first reported around 5:15 PM. Arriving officers found evidence from the gunfire at the intersection and on the northwest side of Jackson but no victim. According to East Precinct radio updates, a woman who suffered minor injuries had reportedly left the scene in the vehicle following the gunfire and police were attempting to locate her.
Police were also looking for a late model vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting.
Thursday’s gunfire follows a string of gun violence in the area and a lawsuit naming Vulcan, Starbucks, and Walgreens over a 21-year-old’s shooting death in the intersection’s shopping center parking lot.
The Starbucks, meanwhile, is one of five being shut down in Seattle by the coffee giant over what it says are public safety concerns.

So, maybe Starbuck’s decision to close their store at this location was not an over-reaction after all. That’s a dangerous area.
Now why is Starbucks leaving that corner again? Oh, perhaps they don’t want the liability (and tragedy) of one their employees catching a stray bullet…
Another shooting. Can we get a statement from Sawant’s office? When I’ve called them, I got brushed off and told the councilwoman had other concerns, or the staffer had no idea about recent incidents. Maybe if a newspaper called you’d get somewhere more substantial.
But they closed the store there to bust unions I heard.
Concerned for all the kids at this intersection who wait for the bus for school. Washington middle school is one block away. The loss of Starbucks will make these children less safe.
That Starbucks is already closed. They closed down the day after the article came out. Looks like there was a party, food and cups still on the tables…
