Seattle Fire treats overdose victim, one arrested after reported Miller Field stabbing — UPDATE

One person reported stabbed turned out to be suffering an overdose and a suspect was arrested without incident in an afternoon altercation near the Miller Playfield. Seattle Fire treated the reported heroin overdose victim in the incident.

Seattle Police and Seattle Fire were called to the scene for an injured male reported just after 1:30 PM.

The victim had been reportedly stabbed by a man camping at the field but he was discovered to be suffering an overdose and had not been assaulted.

A large contingent of police including an officer armed with a rifle fanned out across the field and took the suspect into custody behind the eastern soccer goal. UPDATE: Police say the man was arrested for harassment after reports he had been yelling and threatening people in the area.

Meany Middle School and a preschool facility on the campus were briefly put into lockdown during the incident.

Seattle Fire says it treated a 57-year-old man at the scene and transported him to Harborview in serious condition.

I’m confused…

If no one was stabbed or assaulted, what was the suspect arrested for?

Victim? The only victims here are the neighborhood residents and young students who are continuously terrorized by these violent, drug-crazed criminals.

Miller playfield serves as the playgrounds for Meany Middle School, the PreK hosted there as well as the scores of toddlers that visit day. These kids deserve better than to be operating amongst this crap.

Ugh yah, you think? If I was a parent of a child in that school, I would have been at every meeting yelling up a storm (which I’m sure they have done to no avail), then after that didn’t work, trying to find another safer location for my child to attend school. Surprised all of the parents from Meany Middle didn’t stage a rally in the park to demand a safe space for their children, who are publicly paid for, to learn without constant threat of, well you name it! Overdosing, violence, drug use, mentally unhinged people, on and on…

The victim and the guy who was yelling were two different people.

Meany has 100,000 problems. A guy yelling in the field isn’t even in the top 100. Kids who go there live in Capitol Hill after all. They are resilient and are compassionate towards those who are in mental distress.

It’s amazing that this garbage is allowed to continue at any city park let alone right next to a school. What a mess.
