It was a busy early Friday morning in the air above Capitol Hill and along Harvard Ave E where two suspects fleeing police and the Washington State Patrol ditched their vehicle and tried to escape on foot.
East Precinct officers joined the chase around 2 AM for the man and woman who reportedly had been eluding police and state patrol in a vehicle chase across 520 and I-5 onto Capitol Hill.
According to SPD radio updates, the suspects ditched their vehicle and tried to flee on foot near Harvard and Boston as the King County Sheriff’s Guardian One helicopter and a surveillance plan from state patrol circled above.
One suspect was quickly taken into custody while a search for the second carried officers and troopers through yards and alleys between Harvard and Broadway behind I-5. With help from the air support above, the second suspect was taken into custody around 2:20 AM.
We have not confirmed details of the search with SPD but the King County Sheriff said Friday morning its air unit successfully assisted Bellevue Police and the WSP in a search for an armed burglary suspect.

I hope those here who are always complaining that the “SPD doesn’t do anything” about crime will take note of this incident. Well-done, SPD (and others involved)!
It was something that happened in Bellevue that was pursued by state patrol and sheriffs, with an assist from SPD once they got on foot locally. According to the timetables here, it was 20 minutes of SPD’s evening. I mean, yay for this Bellevue crime being caught here, I guess?
(I actually live right next to this and managed to sleep right through it. LOL.)
I’m kind of curious how they ended up here. Did they get off at Roanoke, then turn on Miller or something? I’d hope they didn’t try to drive fast down Boston off 10th; they’d end up catching serious air and possibly diving into I5, as that’s a 24-degree downward slope between Broadway and Harvard, one of the steepest in the city.
