CHS Pics | Holiday in the Park returns

The Dickens Carolers sing Christmas carols outside an illuminated SAAM

The craft tent was a busy place

Masks can provide some unexpected comforts like keeping your face warm on a damp and chilly Seattle December night. With new ways of life becoming the norm, 2021’s holiday season in the city is a reopening, of sorts, with traditions returning. Thursday night in Volunteer Park wasn’t too far from years past as Holiday in the Park returned with its hundreds of glowing lanterns and even more seasonal cheer. The annual Volunteer Park Trust event on the stairs of the Seattle Asian Art Museum was one of many cancellations in December 2020 as the pandemic wore on. That crisis is still with us in 2021, of course, but, more and more, we’re learning to live — and sing carols — with the virus.

Sunday, a new Capitol Hill holiday event will be born as a response to the challenges many artists and small businesses have faced. The Capitol Hill Ecodistrict is hosting the Revival Holiday Street Pop-up at E Howell and Broadway with goods and gifts from businesses around the city:

Revival Holiday Street Pop-up

11 AM – 4 PM

E Howell at Broadway
Join the Capitol Hill EcoDistrict and our partners (Capitol Hill Business Alliance, Capitol Hill Farmers Market, Ventures, and Seattle Good Business Network) as we open up a city block for this holiday pop-up market featuring small businesses from around Seattle. Stop by on your way to or from the Capitol Hill Farmers Market to shop for gifts, enjoy some music, and support the revival of our community.

For more holiday shopping ideas, check out Shop the Hill, the long running effort from CHS, as we partner again with the GSBA and the Capitol Hill Business Alliance for a free service to help promote local retailers and small businesses and share updates on promotions, deals, and holiday offerings. Participating merchants and venues are complying with COVID-19 safety measures and many offer online ordering and curb pick-up. Check it out at capitolhillseattle.com/shopthehill/
