- Food truck hold-up: Police are investigating a heist at the end of a long night of service at a 10th and Pike food truck early Sunday morning. According to the SPD report on the 4:10 AM robbery, the victim was cleaning and shutting down for the night when the two suspects approached the truck, grabbed the cash from the truck, and took a loaded firearm from the vendor’s pocket. As one of the suspects fought with the victim, the other fled in a getaway car before returning to pick up the second, SPD says. Police searched the area for the black Jaguar used in the robbery but there were no reported arrests. There were no reported serious injuries.
- Laptop sale robber makes getaway: The hopeful buyer of a laptop was robbed by a bandit armed with an electric stun baton in a ripoff Sunday just after 4 PM in the Seattle University parking garage. According to the SPD brief on the robbery, the victim agreed to meet the suspect in the garage to purchase the Apple laptop. Police say the suspect instead brandished the baton, grabbing $750 in cash from the would-be buyer, and fleeing up the stairs of the garage as the victim called 911. According to SPD, police arrived and surrounded the building, then searched the structure but the suspect could not be located. In July, SPD warned the public after a string of robberies involving items for sale on OfferUp. The lobbies of the city’s five precincts continue to be closed due to COVID-19 restrictions but SPD recommends publicly accessible parking lots near the the South, Southwest and North Precincts for safer sale meeting points.
- Hit and run damages restaurant: Restaurant Mai’s Kitchen at 11th and Madison suffered extensive damage in a hit and run collision early Monday morning, its owners reported in the Capitol Hill Seattle Facebook group. The busted restaurant front and window has forced the establishment to limit seating until the damage can be repaired. In addition to considering making an order to support the neighborhood restaurant, Mai’s is also hoping anyone who witnessed the crash will call SPD to provide information to help the investigation.
- First Hill gunfire: It was a quiet weekend after recent waves of gunfire in the East Precinct but SPD did investigate a round of gun shots early Thursday morning on First Hill. According to SPD, a disturbance and gunshots were reported near 8th and Seneca around 2:30 AM Thursday, Arriving officers, found evidence of gunfire but victims and no suspects. There were no reported arrests or property damage.
