One month from now, Capitol Hill will have a new live music venue.
Cafe Racer says its grand opening on 11th Ave is only 30 days away.
While details of the first shows at the Capitol Hill iteration of the Seattle hangout haven’t yet been released, the cafe is planning a Friday, September 10th celebration to kick things off.
CHS broke the news in June on the plans from Jeff Ramsey and Cindy Anne to bring the spirit of the Roosevelt Way original to Pike/Pine, creating a new music venue in the space formerly home to Barca. Ramsey said the new Racer will mix the feel, chow, and booze of the old cafe with upgrades like a new sound system to support a nightly schedule of live shows as it also continues to grow Cafe Racer Radio at caferacermusic.com.
Cafe Racer will debut in uncertain times in Pike/Pine.
As the state’s reopening has run into a wave of new COVID-19 cases, especially among the unvaccinated, Capitol Hill nightlife venues are, again, requiring masks and most are also requiring proof of vaccination or a recent negative test.
The new Cafe Racer, meanwhile, is moving ahead, and has announced it is hiring for a full roster of nightlife roles from bar manager and tenders, to security and sound techs.
Musicians are also invited to book dates in the new venue, though, be ready for at least one big change. “Please note that our new space is over double the size of our Roosevelt venue, with 120 sellable tickets,” Cafe Racer warns. “If you are not confident in your ability to help us fill the space, your show may be more suitable for a Thursday evening rather than a weekend night.”
Cafe Racer will open in September at 1510 11th Ave. You can learn more at caferacermusic.com.
