Some of Capitol Hill’s culinary minds are hard at work developing new cold treats to help save us from Seattle’s 2021 heat wave.
In its three years on 15th Ave E, Spice Waala has already helped to change how we think of Indian food on Capitol Hill. Just in time for the heat wave, Spice Waala is ready to introduce Indian-inspired soft serve staring Friday exclusively at its Capitol Hill location:
Spice Waala Soft Serve:
- Available beginning Friday, July 2 at the Capitol Hill location only
- $5 a cup
- The first flavor offered will be a Rose and Cardamom soft serve for the month of July
- Flavors will rotate every month and include Watermelon and Fennel, Mango Lassi and Pistachio and Cardamom
The innovation is a reminder that Capitol Hill’s cold treat offerings go beyond the neighborhood’s relative wealth of ice cream shops including two Molly Moon’s counters, a Salt and Straw, and a Frankie and Jo’s.
The Hill’s shaved ice, boba, and milk tea game also runs strong these days with options including 15th and Pine’s BobaBucha, 12th Ave’s Atulea, Pike/Pine’s photogenic Drip Tea, Hi Tea on Broadway, Meetea Cafe next to Chophouse Row, and Kakigori Dessert Cafe on E Madison.

Tried the rose cardamom flavor last week and was very impressed!!! The spices and rose flavor were enough to give the soft serve a nice fragrance without becoming overpowering. I think I prefer this to ice cream.
