Suspect eludes K9 search after Broadway bank hold-up

A robber fled on foot Thursday morning after holding up the HomeStreet Bank on north Broadway.

Police were called to the 700 block Broadway E bank around 10:15 AM and were initially concerned about a possibly armed suspect but later confirmed no weapon was seen in the heist.

According to East Precinct radio updates, the suspect was described as a white male, around 5’6″, with white or blond hair, and wearing a black, baggy jacket. He was last seen fleeing on foot northbound from the bank. UPDATE: Police believe he may have fled in a black Honda civic.

A K9 unit attempted to track the suspect in the surrounding streets  but the search was called off without success. There were no reported injuries.

Hasn’t this been hit not long ago? I’m suspecting this looks like an easier mark, small. facing a quiet residential street but close to a major artery. They need to relocate.

This bank does not face a quiet residential street. It faces Roy which for one block is an arterial where broadway becomes 10th. It is directly across from the 76 gas station, and has a bus stop right outside.
