- Greenbelt rescue: Seattle Fire was called in to help rescue a man reported down in a thicket of blackberry bushes late Thursday night in the greenbelt below St. Mark’s. Seattle Fire was called to the area for a rope rescue just before 10:30 PM as crews assessed how best to reach the man stuck below 10th Ave E and above Lakeview Blvd E below. According to Seattle Fire radio dispatches, the man was stuck amidst the spiky blackberries and had to be cut free before crews could safely remove him for evaluation and treatment. We don’t yet have information on the man’s condition.
- Power outage: Seattle City Light crews got the job done quickly after an overnight power outage disrupted service to about 4,100 customers around Capitol Hill and First Hill. The outage began around midnight in the middle of a week of high temperatures around Seattle. A/C units kicked back into action sometime around 3 AM when service was restored about six hours ahead of schedule. City Light says the cause of the outage was a small underground vault fire.
