On the List | The Harvard Exit Garage Sale

WebThe developer of the project set to transform Capitol Hill’s Harvard Exit into a preservation-minded restaurant and office development is holding a garage sale Saturday in preparation for construction and renovations to begin:

We will be clearing some of the final items out of The Harvard Exit Theater this weekend and are having a sale on Sat from 11-4:00. We have tons of theater seats that we’re offering at $10 each!! Would love a plug in the blog. Hoping your readers may want to take home some Seattle cinematic history!

Saturdays’s sale runs 11 AM to 4 PM at the E Roy theater. If you see any of Harry’s missing signs for sale, holler.

Following a final screening in June, the historic theater shuttered as Capitol Hill developer Eagle Rock Ventures prepared for the redevelopment project. ERV’s latest project? The Lodges on Vashon, a 16-room development that we’re told is the “only hotel” on Vashon Island.

The company’s Scott Shapiro tells CHS that he expect to have permits lined up for Harvard Exit construction to begin in November. The garage sale, Shapiro says, is a chance for the community to take home a piece of the old theater but also “an opportunity to see the place pre-renovation as the before and after viewings will confirm that renovating it was the right thing.”

And the proceeds of this garage sale are going to……..?? As the developers probably have enough money of their own, it would be a nice gesture on their part to donate the proceeds to the community.

Sure, but better this than the chairs going to the dump.

Blast it. This shows up the day before the sale when I have 3 other conflicting events tomorrow (and apparently I was too busy during the week to walk the B’say biz blocks and to notice any posted signs).

The first 2 weeks of October are getting as crowded as the end of July and start of August for annual and special events.

I hope that people pick up some good souvenirs.
