The new Capitol Hill will have high performance sport trainers to help you achieve your physical best — and  Velocity Sports Rehab (conveniently within hobbling distance) for when you break down.

“Up here, a lot of people walk and run… and are into fitness and health. A lot of people don’t even use cars up here,” Velocity’s Jayson Yaplee said.

Yaplee and Michael Braccio are the co-owners and the primary chiropractors of the new rehabilitation clinic slated to be part of the newly completed Zephyr apartment building on E Olive Way. Unhealthily, they’ll neighbor the coming-soon boozy milkshake and sweets provider Hot Cakes when it opens its Capitol Hill location in the same building on the corner where B&O Espresso once stood. But, hey, there will soon be a new sports bar just up E Olive WayKessler’s plans to be open in time for March Madness.

If you pull something picking this year’s NCAA Championships pool, Velocity might be just what the doctor ordered.

The new business owners graduated from the University of Washington, Yaplee with a bachelor’s in zoology and Braccio with a bachelor’s in biology, but didn’t meet until studying to be chiropractors in California. After taking associateships around Seattle and working under different doctors for the past few years, they teamed up and have been in the process of opening their new Capitol Hill business since June.

The two chose Capitol Hill for their clinic because of its active culture, appealing demographics, and booming population.

“If you look at the gym density up here there are a bunch — Barre fitness studios, there’s yoga, [and even] Pilates.” Braccio said. “You have a lot of health-oriented businesses up here.”

The two plan to hold classes and seminars to help the public become more aware of their practice, how to take better care of themselves at home. A foam-rolling class will teach clients to use a piece of foam to get rid of “trigger points,” and, the partners say, to increase fluid in the muscles so they can get nutrients in and toxins out.

“It is an educational-based marketing approach. It is just giving people the information that they need and when it is something that they can’t control, that is when our services come into play,” Braccio said..

Eventually, Yaplee and Braccio hope to add more chiropractors and personal trainers to their team, but for now it will be just the two partners. Services will include chiropractic care, soft tissue therapy, corrective exercises, kinesiology tape, and will perform movement screens.

As far as the clientele, Yaplee said that some of his clients from his former practice in downtown Seattle will move with him to the new location, but the duo is hoping to spread the word to add new clients as well. They hope to open in the next week or two.

Velocity Sports Rehab will be located at 1656 E Olive Way. You can learn more at velocitysportsrehab.com.

Great…a Sports Bar. Just what we need – more drunk frat ‘bros, who dont even live in the neighborhood -hooting, pissing and displaying their testosterone-driven masculinity at bar time!

People watch sports at Madison Pub and it’s not a “bro” place. And when the Elite (or whatever it was called) on Olive was around, it was a big Seattle Sounders fan place. I don’t think sports automatically means bros. I do think the density of bros may be increasing.

I’m a huge sports fan and will probably be a regular here, as it’s a few blocks from my apartment. I’m also a 20-something straight white guy who is new to Seattle. And, sorry to bust your bubble, but I’m also a big ally and fully support LGBT rights. Your arrogance and closed-mindedness is showing.

I’m not a bro, I live in the neighborhood, and I watch sports.
