Don’t let the official “Night Out” map fool you — there will be a more than typical number of BBQs fired up around Capitol Hill Tuesday night.
Capitol Hill’s 2014 Night Out map looks typically bleak — as if the citizens banded together and successfully warded off all BBQs. Despite the map, there will be fun. Check out the live map here
August 5th brings the annual Seattle Night Out event intended to help neighbors close off their streets for a night of community fun and food.
The publicly listed parties around the Hill and nearby are highlighted below. They include returning engagements at 19th/Madison’s future Cayton Corner Park site and the grandaddy of Capitol Hill Night Out parties at Summit and Thomas. A new “public” addition in 2014 is the listing for a “North Capitol Hill” party — with no location specified. Grab a compass and don’t give up! UPDATE: Ooops! Slow down, editor. Summit and Thomas ain’t the “grandaddy” party that usually shows up across from City Market. We’ll give them a call to find out what’s up this year. UPDATE x2: Yup. Party’s on just off E Olive Way.
Meanwhile, there are parties that, for whatever reason, aren’t on the map. Take Miller Park, for example where neighbors are again organizing a block party on 21st Ave between Republican and Thomas.
You might also find a few more surprise Night Out parties around your block — or consider taking your grill outside to throw your own. Here’s a look at some of the fun from 2013 and 2012.
