Where to find your Capitol Hill 2013 Christmas tree

Capitol Hill was once a wooded paradise — no longer. Below, you’ll find a few options for securing your holiday greenery without need for an axe — or a visit to a major grocery store.

Stevens Elementary’s annual holiday decoration, tree and greenery sale is on Friday, December 6th, 6-8p and, Saturday, December 7th, 9-2. If you really want to do it small-town style, stop by the 18th/Galer school’s pancake breakfast that morning.

  • You won’t need your own tree to enjoy Seattle University’s annual tree-lighting ceremony:

Don’t miss Seattle University’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting event! Join the Seattle University community as we gather to celebrate the spirit of the holiday season. Activities and refreshments will be provided in the Student Center at 6:30pm, followed by the lighting of the tree at the Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons Plaza in front of the library at 7:00pm.

Anyone know if any of these tree lots have tiny apartment-ready trees? I’m looking for something Charlie Brown-sized and would love to support a local business.

Try the Queen Anne help line tree lot – a little pricey but nice trees and good selection of small tees plus it’s for a charity.

I’ve found very cute small ones at the Ballard Fred Meyer several different years. Haven’t been over yet this year, though.

I’ve gotten tiny trees (~3 feet tall) from the the SASG lot the last few years. They also had very nice wreaths and boughs, and very friendly volunteers. Love this place!
