Expect Capitol Hill detours with more streetcar construction, AIDS Walk

FHS_map_Pike_Union_detours913The First Hill streetcar opens in 2014, the first section of the bikeway, next month — the construction work along the route is moving fast and furiously. Expect more closures along Broadway this weekend. Details from SDOT:

Weekend Partial Closures on Broadway at E Pike St & E Union St (September 28-29)

There will be two partial intersection closures on Broadway, one at E Pike St and one at E Union St, this weekend, September 28-29, from 7 a.m. each day until 10 p.m. in the evening.  Broadway will remain open to north- and southbound traffic, but eastbound turns from Broadway to Pike and Union will not be permitted.  Westbound traffic through Pike and Union will not be permitted, and eastbound traffic on both will be required to turn at Broadway.

The following detours will be provided:

  • Westbound traffic on E Pike & E Union streets will be directed to go north on 12th Ave to E Pine, west on Pine to Broadway, and then south on Broadway to Pike or Union streets.

  • Eastbound traffic on E Pike and E Union streets will be directed to go south on Broadway to E Madison St, then northeast on Madison to 12th, then north on 12th to Union or Pike streets.
