After 18 years on 12th Ave, the Lucky Devil Tattoo Parlor has a new home on E Madison.
“We are happy to be in our new spot after 18 years in the old spot on 12th avenue,” Lucky’s Eric Eye tells CHS. “We have excellent new neighbors in Piecora’s Pizza and all of the other great businesses that are close by.”
The move to new digs comes as the 12th Ave building where the tattoo shop was located moves forward in the process of being developed into an ambitious cohousing project by Schemata Workshop, the architecture firm that owns the property and also calls it home.
Schemata’s Mike Mariano tells CHS the cohousing project he is working with six other families to build is a long way from construction. “It’s very challenging for nine, non-high-net-worth families to develop a non-subsidized, mixed-use apartment building to call home,” Mariano writes.
In the meantime, Mariano is looking for “coworking, pop-up retail, etc.” ventures who might be interested in the space left behind by Lucky Devil. CHS recently reported that one such pop-up just shut down next door at the planned site of a microhousing project.
For the tattoo shop’s part, Lucky Devil joins the commercial spaces along E Madison next to Piecora’s and Happy Endings. Nearby, the Slate Coffee trailer has been wowing craft coffee fans in an adjacent parking lot. Lucky replaces the former offices of Schuchart as it worked to lead the construction of the Bullitt Center just up the street.
CHS will offer a $10-off deal for the first person to sign up for getting a badass photovoltaic array tattoo. You can decide where to put it.
Lucky Devil is now located at 1407 E Madison. You can learn more at luckydeviltattooparlor.com.
I love the cool way they did the neon, really adds to that part of Madison. I’d love to see a mural on that big white wall near the window, maybe Jimi Hendrix done in that style like MLK Jr. on the King county logo. I don’t know what that style is called.
