UPDATE — Sunday, 3/17/13 9:57 PM: SPD confirms the basic details of the investigation and says the initial report indicated that a male who had hired the cab robbed the driver and was armed with a butcher knife. Seattle Fire tells us the cabbie suffered a cut to his hand but it was not serious enough to require transporting him to the emergency room.
I was wondering what happened. Wow.
Well, hopefully he was a fare, so the cab’s internal camera got a snapshot of the suspect.
I’m not at all shocked it happened in that area. That’s why I use E Olive Way, Broadway, Bellevue Ave, and E Pine St when I need to get through this area. Definitely never Summit. It gets super sketchy within that perimeter at night.
