We recently received an email from Amy:
So, this is way in advance!, but do you happen to know which weekend Cap Hill will choose to celebrate Halloween? It’s on a Wednesday this year. I have family that wants to visit during the bacchanalia, but I’m not sure what weekend to tell them to come.
Thanks!
Amy
And, by recently, we mean on August 24th. We like her enthusiasm! It’s not that kooky — as we noted, Capitol Hill Halloween actually began this summer.
But Hilloween 2012 will come on October 28th:
Hilloween – a modern Halloween carnival on Capitol Hill – will take place Sunday, October 28, 2012 from noon-6 p.m. at Cal Anderson Park.
Hilloween is a free, community focused carnival that’s fun for kids and adults of all ages. Festivities include activities such as music, arts, story time, carnival games and face painting; top-notch entertainment from notable artists Recess Monkey and Jenny and her Ukulele; a marching band led costume parade (3 p.m.), and trick-or-treating at neighborhood businesses.
“This festival is a great way to bring the Capitol Hill community together,” said Michael Wells,Executive Director of the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce. “We are excited to have the opportunityto offer a fun and free event the whole family can enjoy.”
Hilloween is the third annual Capitol Hill Halloween carnival, and is presented by the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce and Sound Transit, along with other generous local sponsors.
Broadway businesses are proud to work together to offer a festive and safe environment for kids totrick-or-treat and families to engage.
CHS is a proud sponsor of the good times. And will bring chocolate bars. You can learn more at facebook.com/Hilloween
Other area Halloween fun will also mostly be held that weekend prior to the 31st — including CHS advertiser Gay City’s annual Bump! party.
Trick or treating is an organic phenomenon not to be constricted by things like days of the week. Expect the typical hordes of ghouls and goblins to hit the Wednesday-night streets in search of candy. Here’s a map. Looking for a few costume ideas? This is going to be a spooktacular event. Ghoiuls and boils of all ages are invited…
