Teeth Briefs | Meet your new Capitol Hill dentists

Capitol Hill’s canines and molars are finally getting some love. Rejoice or cower in fear—the neighborhood is seeing an influx of dental practices, giving you one less excuse not to get those sparkly teeth looked at.

  • Dental Shoppe on 1203 E. Pine St. is strategically located next to D’Ambrosio Gelato, so you can eat sweets, then get everything cleaned all on the same block. “I’ve gone over and talked about having a Dental Shoppe gelato flavor,” Dr. Tara Sullivan said. She opened the dental practice in May, moving to the city because of its proximity to all the outdoorsy activities she loves. “I’d always dreamed of having a practice in Capitol Hill,” Sullivan said. You’ve probably already noticed the Dental Shoppe’s distinct neon green sign. Sullivan and her husband came up with the design after looking around the neighborhood at other signage. Dental Shoppe has it covered when it comes to standard exams and cleanings, but also does cosmetic dentistry, wisdom teeth removals, dentures, and custom mouth guards. Appointments for all ages can be made at 206 829-8432.
  • Dr. Keith Wong will be opening up an orthodontic practice in the neighborhood on 1818 E Mercer St next to Monsoon. “I lived on Capitol Hill for a while, I love the neighborhood,” Wong said, “but there hasn’t truly been an orthodontist in Capitol Hill.” When the building space opened up last year, Wong saw it as an opportunity to provide a service that was lacking in the neighborhood. The space is still currently being set up, but Wong expects everything to be open and running on September 17th, just in time for the kiddos starting school at nearby Lowell and Stevens elementary schools to get those braces on. Appointments can be made at 206-812-4494.
  • Kymata Dental Arts has moved to 1001 Broadway from its 15th Ave E location. The aesthetic restoration specialist has served the area since 2009.
  • Mystery dentist on Broadway: One additional new office we’ve been told about appears to be on hold or not happening. When Saizen Sushi moved out, we heard from a few businesses in the area that a new dental service was moving in. So far, that hasn’t come to pass. The commercial broker for the Joule Building declined to comment on the situation.

I’ve been going to Dr. Huddleston for over 10 years, they have a great staff and are always up-to-date on new techniques and equipment. I can’t say enough good things about them, I’m pretty picky when it comes to my teeth.

Anyone know of Cap Hill dentists who offers a discount for immediate payment on services?
I don’t have dental insurance and would like a cleaning without having to pay the billing admin overhead $ built into billed procedure fees.

It’s been my experience that most businesses will give a discount on services when paying in cash.
