The four(!) Q disco balls get a beta test (Image: Q)
It has come a long way from the days back in 2010 when the club was first envisioned for an underground space at 12th and Pike. Saturday night, Q, Capitol Hill’s new “major EDM venue” will open to the first time. Friday night, the VIPs put the space — and fancy-pants sound and light system — to the test. This weekend, the Hill’s club economy will experience its first nights with a growing list of new players on the field. The Social debuted this May and is continuing to hang in there despite some rough patches with the original concept.
Q will debut with a no cover Saturday night before getting into the long-term groove. Friday nights will bring a $5/$7 after 11p cover, while Saturday will command a $8/$10 mix. Sunday tea dances weigh in at $3 a pop. You can party for free the rest of the week.
What else is going on in the Hill’s dance universe on a Saturday night?
- The Social is keeping things hot with Hustle & Glow
- It’s Powermix night at Neighbours
- R Place goes the Lashes Cabaret route followed by Swollen.
- The Baltic Room invites you to The Syndicate.
- Cosmo Baker visits The Woods

Absolutely fantastic. I kept thinking I wasn’t in Seattle. Great space, very well thought out. Excellent lights and sound. Friendly staff with no attitude. There are a few things to iron out around service. Too many bar backs and not enough bartenders. Not that I had to wait for a drink but didn’t seem organized. Oddly, they stopped accepting cash mid way through. I’m sure things will level out.
All in all, great space. Social and Neighbors should be very worried….
Why would any business stop accepting cash? That just seems odd especially on opening night.
Looks like Q can officially claim its first victim, as The Social has converted itself into a straight bar. But really, who didn’t see that coming?
I wish Q much success. At least they had the good sense to open a nightclub without surrounding themselves with eight residential buildings.
Word.
