Commute alert: Obama in Seattle Tuesday night — UPDATE: Medina

From what we can tell, the specifics of President Barack Obama’s fundraising swing through Seattle haven’t yet been nailed down by local media. We know he’ll be in Portland during the day on Tuesday and New Orleans Wednesday afternoon. Reportedly, he’ll spend Tuesday night here. We’ve posted prior to past visits to the city by luminaries. And haven’t posted for others. Whenever we don’t post, it seems like too many of you are caught up in the traffic snarls, street closures, Capitol Hill-cut-off-from-downtown-ages, etc. that accompany large security details. So, given that presidents seem to prefer Seattle’s downtown Westin, we offer you this commute alert. Expect the package to be on the move Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning — plus a possible trip in the middle of things to raise some cash for the fight. While we’re at it, the supreme politician in the land’s arrival here can also be a reminder that it’s time to vote in the state’s primary. We’ll have more on that soon for those who didn’t tear in and vote on the first weekend.

They don’t shut down surrounding airports totally, but there is usually a window of no commercial flights before and after he flies in.

There’s a campaign fund raising event at a private residence in Medina early tomorrow evening. Hopefully that means the downtown traffic will not be completely F’d around the city… well, any moreso than a normal Tuesday night with the Mariners playing the Yankees and POTUS in town that is.
