- A bicyclist suffered injuries Saturday morning on Belmont Ave E after a reported collision with a car. No details on what caused the crash just before 11a but the cyclist’s injuries were not life-threatening and the driver was not cited.
- more details on the incident. : The rider of a Puch suffered serious injuries when the moped was struck by a car at the intersection of 25th and Spring early Saturday morning. - Small fire at E Pike apartment building: The usual large contingent of Seattle Fire units that respond to fire alarms at multi-family structures arrived at an apartment building at 617 E Pike Saturday afternoon to find a small fire burning in a planter on the building. SFD was able to use a “deck gun” from a fire engine to quickly knock down the flames. The department says discarded smoking material was to blame. The fire did $500 worth of damage.
I can add some color on the car vs bike on Belmont, as that’s my house in the picture :)
Cyclist was going 40mph plus down the hill (much too fast) behind the car. The car was turning right and the cyclist didn’t slow or look and was much too close. As the car braked to cyclist smacked into the car and went flying.
Glad he’s not hurt, but he deserved what he go for goingtoonfast for conditions.
WHAT!!!???!!!
i don’t give a damn where you live, matt. you obviously didn’t see shit. i was on my motorcycle following the car UP THE HILL, when the car took A LEFT TURN (without signaling) right into the path of the bicyclist, hitting him head-on. the bicyclist who was going how fast? i do not see any way you are capable of making an estimate of his speed, as YOU GOT EVERY OTHER DETAIL WRONG.
i have spent the majority of my adult life getting from place to place on bicycles and motorcycles. i have commuted, toured, and raced on both extensively. i am a very good judge of speed, even when it is the closing speed of oncoming traffic. this kid was going maybe 2 or 3 over the speed limit of 30mph.
i quote you: ‘…but he deserved what he go for goingtoonfast for conditions…’
first of all: going too fast for conditions? what? it was a beautiful, sunny warm morning. and don’t say some crap about the sun being in either party’s eyes; that would be yet another lie.
but my main gripe: deserved what he got? you are an asshole.
you and your lying, anti-bicyclist attitude can kiss my ass.
why the hell did that arrogant, oblivious driver not get a citation for taking that kid’s life in his hands? what a bunch of crap.
you are ‘…glad he’s not hurt…’?!?
i guess you weren’t kneeling next to him, trying to engage him in conversation until medic one arrived. i guess you didn’t see the blood pouring from the laceration on the back of his head, soaking through and dripping off of his hat. i guess you didn’t see him wincing from the shooting pain in his most likely broken shoulder, with each and every small move he made.
but why am i bothering, matt? you have already more than proven your keen powers of observation.
